this baby does the job!

by Roxyloo 2004-08-09, 144 people found this review helpful
I've always been the biggest fan of steamers, because of how cleanand safe they are, back in South America, I used to have a really good one that unfortunately, I couln't bring with me to the US. My husband and I decided to get a big steamer that could run for a longer time. we bought the Shark ($100)because it could hold a lot of water, but, of course, it turned out to be a piece of junk. So i threw it away and decided I was done with steamers... until i found this one at Bed, Bath & Beyond. I recognized it from the "as seen on tv" and frankly, i had my doubts about it, but i got it anyway. Much to my delight, it turned out to be the same one i had back home!
So, what you get with this baby, is a mean, clean, bacteria-killer machine. It will clean ANYTHING, I mean anything. It's great for the toilet (ewww, you'll clean that thing in a sec) it blasts grease and stuff you thought you'd never been able to clean. Forget about Ajax or CLR, or any other toxic cleaner that are so dangerous.Great for car interiors, Darn, i even use it to 'iron' my clothes! It is also great on carpet stains. It's just fantastic, I could go on forever with its pros, but i'll give you the cons also :a) it's small, so it only takes a very small amount of water (comes with a measuring) cup, therefore, it runs for about 20 mins, and of course, it runs out of steam just when you're getting started. And you have to wait about 5 mins for it to cool off to refill it, and of course, wait for the water to boil again. b) Don't forget you're dealing with boiling water, so be very careful.c) Not very good on windows or mirrors, the steams turns into water, so it's too messy for glass, also, be sure you have a rag or sponge to soak up the water and dirt. Other than that, I'm sure you'll love it!

a great little cleaning device

This little guy works great! The thing is to let it get hot...wait 4-5 minutes to get up steam and when it fades let it rest a few moments and back in business. you get around 15 minutes of steam..good enough for most things. Let the steam do the work (hold it to the spots to be cleaned and move slow)the brushes help too. I've done full kitchen and bath, walls and floors, the sliding door tracks (ewww). You will go through paper towels though :)

LOVE THIS LITTLE GUY

I USE THIS TO CLEAN MY GAS STOVE AND IT DOES A REALLY GOOD JOB. IT TAKES A LITTLE TIME AND DOESN'T WORK LIKE MAGIC, BUT WHAT DOES? I ALSO USE IT IN THE BATHROOM AND ON MY KITCHEN SINK AND COUNTERTOPS. IF SOMEONE BUYS THIS AND EXPECTS IT TO DO ALL THE WORK WITHOUT ANY EFFORT ON THEIR PART THEN THEY WON'T BE HAPPY WITH IT, BUT IF THE PERSON EXPECTS TO DO SOME OF THE WORK THEMSELVES AND USE IT CORRECTLY THEN THEY WILL LIKE IT VERY MUCH. AFTER READING SOME OF THE BAD REVIEWS I FELT COMPELLED TO ADD MY TWO CENTS WORTH IN DEFENSE OF A NEAT LITTLE MACHINE.

wallpaper begone!

by peachjam 2006-01-15, 29 people found this review helpful
My husband and I were struggling with wallpaper removal in our kitchen and were going to rent a steamer when we thought of this machine. I had my doubts about it, but figured the price was worth taking a chance and boy am I glad we did!
Within an hour this baby had ALL the paper off, with no scraping, scrubbing, or mess.We used the wide attachment and steamed small sections at a time. The small size was perfect, we could even fit it above our cabinets to get all the paper there too! It worked like a charm, and was well worth the money just for this task.
I then used it on my kitchen appliances(you know the gunk that sticks in the refrigerater tracks and microwave hood)and it was awesome! It does not do all the work itself, I did do some scrubbing there, but it made the work so much easier and the appliances have not sparkled like this in a long time.
The drawback is that it doesn't last long on one tank of water, but it didn't take long to reheat.
I would highly reccommend it for the averager homeowner.

A great little cleaner!!

I use to own a steam buggy & I thought it was the best. Well let me tell you, I was wrong! This little guy works great!! Don't listen to all of the bad reviews about this product. It wont do all the work for you, nothing does. If you put a little work into it, it works just great. I like the fact that it has a button that you push when you want steam. The steam buggy just keeps spraying the steam & never stops until it's all gone. It can be a real mess. The Scunci SS1000 works real good on everything you want it to. I cleaned my car windows & boy, do they shine!!! My stove was a real mess also, it worked great. If you want something to get the job done try this little helper it works!!!!!!!!

Great Purchase

After reading so many negitave reviews, I decided to get this anyway. I'm glad I did! I used it to clean my bathroom the same day I bought it. The only thing it didn't clean was the bathtub, but I expected that, (I've been trying everything since August to get it clean). I love that I don't have to use chemicals and can still get a good clean. It's worth buying if you remember that it's not a robot, it's not gonna clean for you, it's an aid, it helps. Hope this helps!

I fell in love with the Scrunci, it cleans great. Everyone that has seen me use this has bought it. I never thought that this would be such a great help and investmet. My family calls it my best friend. I love it.

This is my first experience with any kind of steam cleaner, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I must say, I'm not disappointed. A+
I have a friend who owns cabins that are rented out in the summer. She does all her own housekeeping, and raved about the Scunci and how it made her job so much easier. Someone borrowed it and broke it so I called her, and she wanted one too. Now there are 2 happy Scunci users!!

Can't praise this steamer enough

by For the Love of Goldens 2009-06-12, 6 people found this review helpful
First of all I must tell you, I found this mighty steamer at a flea market; in used once condition for $2. From the looks of many reviews I probably bought it from one of you ;-) Being that I only paid $2 I didn't have high expectations and figured if it didn't work I was only out a few bucks. It was the absolute best $2 I ever spent!!! I have used it in every possible cleaning situation I can think of. Works perfect every time. After reading a few reviews I had to post my comments. It sounds like many (not all) of the problems many reviewers are experiencing is of their own doing. Here are a few things that have worked for me....First, let it heat up the full 5 minutes or longer; if it is spitting water it isn't hot enough. Second, you MUST, MUST empty & rinse this out EVERY time you use it. I also leave the cap off when I store it. If this is used, then put away with even a little leftover water in it, it will plug up on you. Salt is this babies worst enemy. A few extra minutes after each use will save you tons of time & frustration later and will keep you steaming away ; -)

Blew Up

This item spat a little water out of the nozzle on 3d use, then the hose blocked up and separated from the body forcibly. Lucky I did not get burned.
